Metal component manufacture does not end with forming. Aftertreatments are carried out to achieve the properties required from the products, such as durability, cleanliness, appearance, and functionality.
We perform aftertreatments as part of the overall process; this ensures that the outcome meets the customer’s requirements.
Aftertreatments as part of a comprehensive solution
We offer a comprehensive range of aftertreatments for modification of the technical and visual properties of metal components.
Aftertreatments are always planned according to the intended use, material, and manufacturing method of the product, and are carried out as part of the overall process. This way, we make sure the outcome is of high quality and ready for the next stage or immediate use. For example, we carry out various aftertreatments of spring products as required.
Typical examples of aftertreatments include:
- washing (also ultrasonic washing)
- burr removal and finishing (drum treatment)
- thermal treatments and hardening
- grinding
- various coatings, such as galvanizing, painting and e-coating
- measurements, quality assurance and packaging
Washing is included under the basic process at all of our plants, and the products are delivered to the customer in the clean condition. If necessary, we also ensure compliance with various technical cleanness requirements (e.g., VDA 19.1).
We carry out aftertreatments either at our own production units or in co-operation with our established partner network. We always choose the implementation method with consideration of the product and requirements and bear responsibility for the overall process to the customer.
The Kurikka plant belonging to the Meconet Group (Relicomp) also offers surface treatment options under its own production. At Kurikka, the combination of sheet metal manufacture, surface treatments (such as powder coating), assembly, and packaging allows products to be delivered as complete sub-assemblies.
