Deep drawing solutions for high-performance structures
The deep-drawn sheet metal components manufactured at Äänekoski feature a combination of lightness, strength, and functionality. With the deep drawing technology, a variety of shapes can be produced from a single sheet metal blank, thereby limiting the number of parts and the need for assembly.
Product design is supported by simulation, and several iteration rounds will ensure manufacturability and functionality of the final product. During the process, the structure can be developed further before production. We can for example, combine several parts into one, integrate functional items – e.g. joints or fixing points – into the product, or optimize the properties of the complete final part.
The method is particularly suitable for products requiring durability, dimensional accuracy, and cost-efficiency in serial production.
Modern technology brings benefits to design and manufacturing
The servo-controlled deep drawing press used at the Äänekoski plant provides for a very precise and efficient manufacturing process. It can be used for optimization of moulding speed and precise control of moulding force, thereby improving both product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Servo control is also good for more efficient utilization of material, smaller tolerances, and lighter but stronger structures.
The technology allows manufacture of larger and more diverse components and reduction of the need for welding and the number of assembly stages, for example.

Deep drawing is a material-efficient manufacturing method for the production of lightweight and durable structures.
Precise process control improves dimensional accuracy and quality, which in turn enables assembly automation and streamlines the customer’s production processes.
The manufacturing process of an individual component is designed and ramped up for production by our NPI team, always in line with the customer’s needs. This way, the best combination of cost-effectiveness, quality, and functionality is achieved.

The Äänekoski plant operates in close co-operation with our other plants in Finland and Estonia.
By combining our deep drawing expertise with other manufacturing technologies, we can offer the customers complete solutions in which components, assemblies, and logistics make up a functional whole.
