Our business strategy is based on sustainable development. As regards our operations, the goal is to halve the carbon footprint by the end of 2025 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 at the latest. On this path, we are on schedule, annually reducing emissions by approximately 10 per cent.
“We are on schedule, annually reducing emissions by approximately 10 per cent.”
The pace of our sustainability work is good in general and development is constantly taking place in many domains.
Internalisation of sustainability into the company’s operations
Meconet has taken significant steps to integrate sustainability into all levels of the organisation. For us, sustainability is not just a part of our business, but an essential element in our daily activities. Among other things, we have created checklists and project monitoring models that encourage our employees to consider the environmental effects in each work stage – from design to sales and marketing, from production to logistics.
Our goal is to make the sustainability mindset a natural part of our daily work. This can only be achieved through systematic repetitions in our everyday life.
Our CO2 counter provides an insight into the importance of the design phase
Our customers are also increasingly more aware of the meaning of sustainability and of its impacts. More and more companies have established sustainable development goals on the strategic level, which requires advances in their own production.
“Up to 80% of the total emissions are determined by the choices made during the product design phase.”
We have developed for our customers a CO2 calculator that can be used to compare the impact of material choices on total product-related emissions. The counter takes into account all Scope 1–3 (direct and indirect) emissions. This way, we can tackle the emissions of the customer’s product already in the design phase, which is very important, as up to 80% of the total emissions are determined by the choices made during the product design phase. Because of this, co-operation should start at an early stage.
A good example of this was a discussion we had with a customer regarding the carbon footprint of its products, while jointly looking for the possibilities to reduce emissions. The discussion was not merely technical, but also covered price issues and the possibilities for creating test products that could also clarify the immediate benefits of reducing emissions for end customers.
Focusing on the sustainability of the entire supply chain
Achievement of the sustainable development objectives requires commitment not only in our own operations, but also throughout the supply chain. We have launched a process in which the sustainability of the entire supply chain is monitored from start to finish. Each call for tenders is processed from the perspective of sustainability in a very early stage, and the related information is carried along throughout the production chain.
We have also invested in documentation to make sure every aspect affecting the operation is taken into account. Besides strengthening the transparency of our operations, this helps us to identify and utilise development opportunities in a sustainable manner throughout our supply chain.

In the future, we will strive for even more in-depth cooperation with the parties in the supply chain, as well as for joint development of solutions rendering our entire chain increasingly more sustainable. The ongoing Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) initiative supports this goal, and we are closely monitoring its requirements as we prepare for the reporting obligations in 2026.
Working hand in hand with our customers and partners, we believe that we can achieve our emission reduction goals and continue our journey towards carbon neutrality.
“Innovations are built together”, as we like to say here at Meconet. We could just as well say: “Acts of sustainability are made together.” The work continues – one deed at a time.
