Meconet AS, Meconet’s plant in Tallinn, has received the Letter of Conformance (LOC). This step precedes IATF certification, which the plant is scheduled to receive in late summer 2025. The IATF certificate refers to the IATF 16949 standard, an internationally recognized quality management system intended specifically for the automotive industry and its supply chain.
The IATF certificate is an important development step for the Tallinn plant and the entire Group, as after the issue of the certificate, all Meconet plants will be on the same page in terms of certification. The Vantaa, Äänekoski and Pihtiputaa plants have all been granted the IATF certificate earlier. Such coherence reinforces Meconet’s commitment to high quality and safety standards at all of its sites.
The Tallinn plant is to become more important
Meconet’s plant in Tallinn has played a key role in the company’s production and assembly operations for a long time. The granting of the IATF certificate will further strengthen its position towards various industries. The certificate brings along new opportunities and opens doors to new markets, which is important in terms of Meconet’s growth strategy.
– Lots of process requirements have been flowing in from Central Europe, and not just from the automotive industry. For example, Schneider Electric operates in the electrical industry, but their new requirements correspond to those of the automotive industry. The certificate demonstrates to our customers the high level of our operations. The assembly processes and pressing and machining technologies used in Tallinn will soon be covered by the certificate, opening up opportunities for expanding our scope to meet our customers’ inquiries. In the future, access to Central European markets will become easier, says Juha Tolvanen, Meconet’s Quality Director.
– When Tallinn joins IATF, direct sales to automotive customers becomes possible. We have seen increasing demand in other industries as well. For example, process documentation, quality control, and risk management constitute requirements that have also been established in other industries. For us, certification will guarantee quality and the ability to meet the requirements, says Joni Kariluoto, CEO of Meconet AS.
