When the global COVID-19 epidemic broke out in spring 2020, we at Meconet started putting together a strategy to cope with it. In the name of our customers’ interests, we wanted to make sure our production stays up.
One of the key tools in the fight against COVID-19 exposure is the Safety Management Solution developed by Noccela Oy. The solution was introduced at the Vantaa plant in autumn 2020. The device makes observing safe distances easy. In case of infections, corrective measures can be launched quickly and the number of close contacts restricted accurately. This way, we can keep our production running even if infections should occur.
A trouble-free solution with multiple benefits
Introduction of new systems always poses challenges in terms of time and communication. How to maximise the advantages while making sure the system will not cause excessive trouble?
Noccela’s solution was an excellent response to this challenge. Introduction was simple: Noccela supplied the devices to us pre-charged and ready for distribution. The employees are only required to take care of the recharging. This way, the employees can focus on their essential tasks.

Safety first
We comply strictly with the GDPR guidelines, which is why the devices cannot be directly associated with any of the employees. Noccela trained some of our key personnel who can access the data collected by the devices in case of infections. They can find out who have been in close contact with a person infected. We also tuned the solution to suit our exact needs. Among other things, we reprogrammed the feature measuring the duration of encounters, as the default alarm time was too short for our type of operation.
Keeping the personnel posted on the situation is of primary importance. We have written procedures in place regarding hand washing, mask use, cleaning practices, and shifts. With the Safety Management Solution, if infections should occur, we will have proper evidence on close contacts for both the authorities and ourselves. The device also facilitates management, since it reminds us of the need to keep our distances.
