Each outsourcing project has its own special features, but they also have a lot of similarities. At Meconet, we can help any client with the cost-effective execution of outsourcing projects. The following brief references provide an overview of three outsourcing projects, where our clients have clearly benefitted from our expertise.
Cost savings from supply chain simplification
One of our clients had several small subcontractors who manufactured components for them. The client’s Procurement Director wanted to simplify the supply chain, and the R&D Director was hoping that their supplier would have the resources to collaborate on product development, as well. In this case, the client’s understanding of product requirements and the subcontractor’s experience in product manufacturing can be combined.
The client centralised and transferred the manufacturing of some suppliers to Meconet. Since then, several successful product development projects for new products and cost-reduction projects for existing products have been carried out together with the client.
Increased capacity from focusing
In another case, the client wanted to focus on manufacturing plastic parts and automation, and decided to outsource the manufacturing of metal parts and their metalworking machinery to Meconet. The machinery and equipment were moved to Meconet’s premises.
Meconet already had similar manufacturing experience, so the technical know-how was not an issue. Some of the products could also be transferred to newer and more efficient machines. The client, in turn, now had space available for new investments in plastics technology, which increased their capacity and improved their competitiveness.
Efficiency from downsizing
In the third case, one of our large international clients wanted to give up its production of sheet metal components, focusing on the final assembly of the products, instead. The goal was to reduce costs in a country with expensive labour, without changing the products’ official country of origin. The client already had a subcontractor manufacturing sub-assemblies near Meconet’s plant, making the component and assembly flows efficient.
Competitiveness through outsourcing
What all these projects have in common is that companies want to improve their competitiveness and focus more on their own end clients. That means that they have to let go of some processes, and they need reliable partners. Today, Meconet is manufacturing products for these companies efficiently and handling deliveries reliably on an agreed schedule. Our clients trust Meconet’s expertise and manufacturing experience.
