Meconet has ambitious growth targets. We are targeting a turnover of EUR 100 million by the end of the strategy period, which means rapid organic growth.
We are looking for this growth potential above all in sustainable development sectors. In this Greentech business, we focus on electric mobility and renewable energy solutions.
Meconet’s business strategy has been developed from a sustainable development perspective. We divide sustainability into three areas: environmental, social and economic sustainability. As a result, all day-to-day activities are also carried out with responsibility in mind.
“In 2022, our carbon footprint will be 13% lower than the previous year.”
Emissions are steadily decreasing
Last spring, we received the results for the first reference year 2021 for CO2 emissions: the carbon footprint in 2022 was 13% lower than in 2021. We were also able to look at a plant-by-plant basis to see where we can improve or reduce emissions from our own operations. A number of issues emerged, and we have been focusing on them since the spring.
We got ideas for action from each factory through strategy workshops. For example, making better use of the roofs of factory buildings with solar panels is an important development. We have also developed a carbon calculator for our customers, so that we can identify potential savings at the quotation stage.
“Each employee is given a specific accountability target.”
Practical action brings solid results
The importance of ethical practices has been increasingly highlighted by our customers. We have therefore reinforced our family business values in our strategy, but also in our practice: excellence, responsibility and continuous improvement.
In January, we will break down the strategy into target levels for all employees. Each employee will be given a specific accountability target. For example, tool and method development and sales can work with the customer to measure emission reductions and propose measures to the customer.
For quality personnel, the targets relate to quality deviations and minimising material waste. In purchasing, we can make a difference through supplier cooperation, optimisation of batch sizes and logistics solutions.
We believe in a holistic approach to new business. We can help our customers all the way through the design, production and logistics chain, enabling a significant reduction in emissions from both product manufacture and transport.
“We are looking at how we can integrate sustainability issues into our financial statements and financial reporting.”
I am proud of the way Meconet has embraced sustainability, both at the strategic level and in practice. Nevertheless, there is always plenty of work to do. One of the upcoming topics is the EU CSR Directive on sustainable development reporting. We are looking at how we can integrate sustainability issues into our financial statements and financial reporting. We can tell you more about this early in the year. Our recipe for sustainability is evolving every day.
